St. Louis Arch, Missouri

St. Louis Arch, Missouri

Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.

This week’s photo is from my trip to Missouri, featuring the famous St. Louis Arch.

Missouri’s tallest building, the Gateway Arch, or simply known as ‘the St. Louis Arch’, is one of the most popular tourist destinations for those visiting St. Louis. Even as a child, I still remember seeing the towering arch during my first trip to St. Louis. Unfortunately, seeing the arch tower above me was all I ever did, since while everyone else in my family made it to the top, I chickened out and refused to leave solid ground (C‘mon I was like, 7 years old or something!)

Despite living so close, I never visited St. Louis again until I was an adult. And as soon as I knew I would be making a return visit, I also knew this would be my chance to redeem myself and ascend to the top. And that’s exactly what I did! I must say that those barrels are still a bit scary to ride in, but the views from the top are well worth it.

This was one of my favorite shots from my visit to the Gateway Arch.

Great photo. I think that You know that it was drawn by Finnish-born architect Eero Saarinen.

Thanks! And yes, Saarinen designed it with the help of a German engineer.
