Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is of the Chi Lin Nunnery in Hong Kong.
Located out in the New Territories, the Chi Lin Nunnery was founded in 1934. This complex of Buddhist temples was built in the Tang Dynasty style completely out of wood without the use of any nails.
The architecture here is beautiful, especially as they contrast against the modern apartment buildings lurking in the background. Together with Nan Lian Garden, this area still remains amongst my favorite places in Hong Kong, as it always provides a peaceful space from the hectic city. It’s always a welcomed, and sometimes much needed, change of pace.
