WEAR YOUR TRAVELS IN STYLE WITH EL CAMINO BRACELETS

Since traveling, I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with jewelry.

It’s weird because growing up, I couldn’t care less about jewelry and I actually found wearing it a hassle. Even when I first started traveling, I would typically buy souvenirs that I could someday fill a house with, but as my priorities shifted, so did my taste in souvenirs.

Now jewelry is my go-to souvenir of choice.

It’s great because it’s practical, it’s fun and it doesn’t take up any room in a suitcase. Plus, whenever people comment on a piece I’m wearing, it brings a smile to my face because I secretly get to relive all the travel memories associated with it.

My collection may be small still, but over the past year it’s been growing steadily. Some of my favorite pieces include a shell bracelet from the Maldives, a kumihimo bracelet from Japan, a woven bracelet from Mexico and a Murano glass bracelet from Italy.

Unfortunately, I also seem to have a bit of an obsession with bracelets.

Since I can’t wear them all together without it looking ridiculous, they typically sit in my jewelry box waiting for an appropriate occasion to wear them– unlike my jade necklace and engagement ring from Hong Kong, which are the only two pieces I’m never without.

Enter El Camino Bracelets— the perfect way to wear all your travels at once… and in style.

These bracelets are essentially charm bracelets that represent your travels. Rather than buying charms, you buy what they call “steps”, which represent the different continents, countries and cities you’ve been to.

I was sent three different steps for my bracelet– Hong Kong, Japan, and the Asia continent step, which is a pretty green bead. Pretty perfect for me, don’t you think?

Want to add an awesome festival you went to or maybe just your favorite place within a city? You can by customizing and creating your own step!

I debated getting a Chicago step so that I could proudly wear all three of my homes on my wrist, but I decided just to keep the bracelet Asian themed to symbolize my love and expertise of the region.  I think if I were ever to get another step I would get a customized one that says “Besudesu” or “Travels in Translation” on it.

Apart from choosing the steps you want, you also get to choose the physical bracelet itself. They come either single or double-sized (meaning it will wrap around your wrist twice) and in a variety of different colors.

The starter kit also includes four spacer beads to put in between your different steps.

I choose the double-sized bracelet in “Forest Green”, which actually looks more like a dark teal to me. I liked the green because 1) green is my birthstone and 2) I wanted something earthy and zen feeling to go along with the Asian theme.

The double-sized is typically for those who plan to fill their bracelet with charms, but I just liked the look of it better even though I plan on keeping my bracelet very simple with only a few steps.

Even though I’ve decided to keep my bracelet very focused, you could easily go crazy and have yours represent all of your worldly travels.

In fact, I might just have to start a second one to represent some of my other adventures…

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! This could make a perfect gift for any travel-obsessed partner 😉

Disclaimer: I did receive a free Starter Kit from El Camino, but I plan to continue buying more steps on my own. As always, all opinions are my own. I would only ever recommend a product that I love and would pay for myself.
