  1. You can begin by preparing the above mentioned ingredients for gyoza. You can decide to start by cutting the cabbage leaf into strips. You need to chop them into 2-3mm or 1/8 pieces. That done? If so, here’s the next move below!
  2. Step two is to slice the onion wedge but ensuring that you leave the root par that is attached to it. Go ahead by chopping the onion into 2-3mm or 1/8 pieces.
  3. After completing step two, you need to concentrate in chopping the garlic chive stems first. Ensure you cut the leaf in half and then go ahead by chopping them into fine pieces. Complete this step by grating the garlic clove and the ginger root.
  4. It’s now time to make the gyoza filling! Do this by kneading the ground pork in a bowl until it becomes a bit gooey. Add the soy sauce, sugar, pepper, sake, sesame oil, potato starch, grated garlic, grated ginger and oyster sauce to the ground pork.
  5. After completing step four above, proceed by kneading the mixture thoroughly. You also need to consider a thickness that will offer a filling juicy texture when cooked.
  6. Proceed by adding the chopped cabbage, onion and garlic chives to the above mixture. Give the mixture a slight stir until it is evenly mixed.
  7. Now, cover the bowl using a plastic wrap. Put the mixture in a fridge for about 30 minutes so that the pork and the vegetables can be blended together.
  8. It’s now time to wrap the filling using gyoza wrappers. Do this by sprinkling some flour on a baking sheet to prevent gyoza from sticking. This will also make the gyoza to be crispier.
  9. You now only need to scoop the filling and then spread it onto the wrapper.
  10. After completing the above step, it’s now time to wet the edges of the wrapper.
  11. Now fold the wrapper in half and then start forming pleats only on one side of the wrapper. You can check how this is done in YouTube videos since there are several ways to wrap and arrange your Yaki gyoza.
  12. Proceeding by putting the gyozas in the baking sheet.
  13. Now, you need to learn how to make the gyoza sauce. Start by putting the black vinegar and soy sauce in a bowl. Lastly, stir them lightly.
  14. After completing the previous step, you need to now cook the gyoza! You only need to start by heating the sesame oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Arrange the half of the gyoza in the pan. You need to ensure there is space between each of the gyoza. This is to prevent them from sticking together.
  15. Pour over boiling water on the gyozas until they are halfway submerged.
  16. Continue by putting a lid on and then cook over medium-high heat for about 5 to 6 minutes.
  17. Once the water has evaporated and the gyoza begins to sizzle, remove the lid. Again, add some more sesame oil to the gaps of gyoza and then replace the lid. You now need to cook for1 to 2 extra minutes.
  18. When you notice that the bottom becomes golden brown, you need to turn off the burner and then remove the gyoza using a spatula.
  19. Now, put the gyoza onto the table with the bottom upside down. You can choose to either add rayu (hot chili oil) or sesame oil to the gyoza sauce.
