Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is from the Nan Lian Garden, Hong Kong.
Amidst the multitude of high-rises in Diamond Hill is an oasis. The tranquil Nan Lian garden is one of my favorite places in all of Hong Kong. Built in traditional Tang dynasty style, I love the sparkling gold pavilion and its juxtaposition against the drab high-rises of modern Hong Kong. Every rock, every plant, every structure has been carefully placed according to strict rules.
It’s a great escape from chaotic city life and with Chi Lin Nunnery next door, you can often find monks wondering the paths and meditating in the gardens. You can’t get much more peaceful than that.
