FOTO FRIDAY: HSBC LIONS, HONG KONG

Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.

This week’s photo is of the HSBC Lions in Hong Kong.

The two bronze lion statues out front HSBC in Hong Kong have quite a reputation. People from all over come to see the lions in order to take their photos and rub them in hopes that their power and money will rub off on to the people.

After utilizing feng shui to carefully position them in 1935, the lions have never been moved, except when they were confiscated by the Japanese during WWII. Luckily, before they could be melted down the lions were discovered and brought back to Hong Kong. No wonder people believe they’re lucky!
