FOTO FRIDAY: CLOCK TOWER, HONG KONG

Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.

This week’s photo is of a the iconic Clock Tower in Hong Kong.

At 44 meters tall, the old Clock Tower in Tsim Sha Tsui is the only thing that remains of the Kowloon-Canton Railway terminus. Erected in 1913, the Clock Tower was made from traditional Cantonese red bricks and granite. Today it is a popular landmark, not just for tourists and locals, but also for the thousands of Chinese immigrants who passed through it years ago to start their new lives in Hong Kong. In front of the Clock Tower is a narrow reflection pool. Lined with summery palm trees, the pool always adds to the beauty of the Clock Tower.

We were lucky to see a beautiful orange sunset spreading around the Clock Tower and reflecting in the pool’s water, even though sunsets are usually a rarity in Hong Kong, especially within Victoria Harbour.
