LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT TRAVEL PURSE? INTRODUCING TRAVELON

It’s hard to find the perfect purse.

I know Johnny would disagree seeing as he could easily find me 50 different purses, all in my closet. But the only reason I have so many is because none of them turn out to be that one perfect bag!

I’m sure all you ladies can relate.

Add travel into the mix and it becomes near impossible to find one bag that’ll cover all your needs.

Previously, whenever I’d travel I’d take my Pacsafe Slingsafe 300 GII, which I’ve previously raved about. Now, I still love this bag to death, but for Europe I really wanted something a little more fashion conscious, as in, an actual purse.

After trying out countless options, I finally found a bag which works perfectly for travel as well as everyday use.

Presenting…. the Anti-Theft Signature Tote by Travelon!

My bag is in the color ‘truffle’, which is a soft earthy grey color that I adore– but they also carry it in a black and eggplant color.

This was the only bag I brought with me to Europe for 6 weeks, other than my suitcase. Since then it’s traveled with me all through Central America and in multiple cities throughout the US, and it still looks brand new.

My mom also bought a purse before our trip and hers, like most travel purses, was made from nylon. I loved the color of her purse, but overall it felt more plastic-y, scratchy and had a cheaper look about it.

My bag however, is made from a poly twill, which makes it look nice while still being durable. It even has some cute embroidery on parts to give it a more elegant look.

Nothing about this bag makes it look cheap or like your typical anti-theft bag.

But I assure you, it is an anti-theft bag.

The Safety Features

Slash-proof panels and straps: The bag has wire cording and mesh panels making it slash-proof to thieves.

Locking zippers: The zippers can all be clipped onto a security hook. This makes it hard for pickpockets to open your zippers, and if they did attempt to open your bag, it would be nearly impossible to not notice.

RFID blocking pockets:  Inside the locking main compartment of the purse there are multiple pockets and slots for cellphones and even business cards, all of which are RFID blocking, keeping my private information secure.

Detachable shoulder strap: The shoulder strap can be detached from the bag via a locking carabiner. You can then use the strap of your bag to lock it around fixed objects to prevent snatch and run theft.

Padded compartment: The side compartment is heavily padded making it perfectly safe for delicate electronics like iPads and other tablets.

Why I Like This Bag

The main compartment zips! You’d be surprised how many purses don’t actually zip– a huge no-no when looking for any travel-friendly purse.

I worried that it would be a little too big, but it ended up being the perfect size.

The main compartment was perfect to put my DSLR (plus extra lens) in when it started raining outside or when I needed to keep it concealed. Without the camera inside, I was able to fit my Macbook Pro 13” inside (though it couldn’t zip) to safely transport it to business meetings and work.

On top of that, it still fit all my other necessary purse items like my wallet, phone, and even a scarf.

The outside of the purse has two more zippered pockets, as well as a tiny little pocket at the top, which I find to be the perfect size for sliding my phone into or even my lens cap when I’m out shooting.

Speaking of shooting, thanks to the main strap being adjustable, I can wear it cross body, so it doesn’t get it the way while trying to get the perfect shot. That, and there’s also additional straps to secure it to my rolling luggage.

Plus, there’s a mesh side pocket for a water bottle or folding umbrella. They’ve clearly thought of everything.

Improvements I’d Like to See

There’s honestly not much that I dislike about this purse! I guess If I’m going to be really picky, I’d say that I wish the padded compartment had a way to close either by another zipper or simply a snap or something.

It’s a bit big and sometimes since it’s constantly flopped open it makes it hard to quickly grab things from the main compartment.

This modification would make things so much easier and I think I’m just going to go ahead and modify it myself.

My only other complaint would be some sort of padding on the shoulder strap. Really, if I was a normal purse user this would be NO issue. But since I carry my whole life in my purse, the bag does dig into my shoulder quite a bit after wearing it a while.

But seriously, this is probably my own fault. At any given time my bag weighs about 12 pounds– not even joking! I say that and people doubt me. You should see their reaction when I hand my bag over to them….

Overall I absolutely love this bag and will continue dragging it around the world with me for as long as I can! I’m excited to say that I think I’ve finally found the perfect travel purse!
