FOTO FRIDAY: INDIANAPOLIS CANAL WALK

Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.

This week’s photo is of the Canal Walk in Indianapolis.

The Indiana Central Canal was dug in the early 1800s, in an effort to facilitate interstate commerce. It was supposed to extend almost 300 miles to the Ohio River, but until fortunately the project didn’t last and they finished an exciting whole eight miles.

Today it’s home to the Canal Walk, which features a beautiful waterside promenade for walkers, runners, bikers and even Segwayers. There are picturesque bridges spanning sections of the canal, many of which have beautiful street art underneath, and it’s tree lined pathways become especially beautiful come autumn. If I lived in Indy, I’d probably be out here every day enjoying the views and serenity. It was truly one of my favorite spots in the city!
